As Wellington comes alive and celebrates the inaugural Visa Wellington on a Plate! festival, BurgerFuel Courtenay Place, Cuba Street and Upper Hutt were keen to get amongst the festivities.

Putting forth their entries for the annual ‘Battle of the Buns’, the Garage Project Presents Burger Wellington, and each store has come up with a burger to challenge your perceptions of the humble burger. Who will be crowned the winner of this local burger feast challenge. Learn more about each entry below.

Meet BurgerFuel Cuba Street’s, No Poblano...

Bringing you an exotic medley influenced by the eclectic and colourful vibes of Cuba Street; Crispy Buttermilk fried chicken, sweet pineapple  and jalapeños are paired with an unexpected fusion of Fix & Fogg Chocolate Peanut Butter and Baxter’s Chilli Lime Hot Sauce, all partying together on a bed of fresh lettuce and batch brewed relish, in a wholemeal bun.

No poblano peppers in this bad boy, just juicy La Morena jalapeños.

Let this high performance taste explosion take you for a ride; Crispy Buttermilk fried chicken with Zany Zeus mascarpone, Japanese style slaw, jalapeños, melted cheddar, honey mustard and batch brewed relish, all parked up on our artisan wholemeal bun.

Overload your taste buds with 100% pure grass fed NZ beef, smashed juicy, melted buffalo cheese, a stash of streaky bacon, and the wild card contingent, Zany Zeus yoghurt, wild kimchi, and Sambal sauce, all put together on a bed of batch brewed relish and inside a wholemeal bun.

Pair the Streaky Overkill with Spud Fries, and you’ve got yourself a spot on the podium.
