Piha Day of Giants

Posted by BurgerFuel

Piha Day of Giants is a large surf carnival held at the icon Piha beach in Auckland. The surf is known for being huge, and the day’s action lives up to its name. It always promises to be full of boat carnage and thrilling competition, and this year it delivered in spades.

BurgerFuel is the proud sponsor of the Piha Surf Life Saving Club  and have been associated with them for several years. This event being their largest of the year, we couldn’t not show up and support them in style. Sporting a huge purple tent and promotions area, we had games to be played, beanbags to be sat on, kid’s tattoos to be stuck on and free drinks for the epic people of Piha. The crew carved up the waves and showed us how it is done.

We had a special prize run through our Facebook page that meant some lucky BurgerFuel fans could catch a ride in a Helicopter to and from the event. They were able to get a (machine-like) bird's eye view from above, all the way along the west coast. Our customers only ride in style, bad-ass, ridiculous throw money out with no shame, style.

While our winner's arrived the promotions team braved the iconic black sand and ran events such as sand building competition's while socialised their way around the beach. With several hundred people in attendance, the day was a real success, ending with a  BBQ and a surf style prize giving. This is what New Zealand and the west coast is about.

Who doesn’t love a day at the beach, especially when the action is thrilling. We crave seeing you at the next Day of Giants. Bring on next year! Yee-Haa Piha!!!
