Rock on
We've been partying like it's 2001. Which is how long NZ Music month has been celebrated around Aotearoa and the world. This year, we threw down the gauntlet to some of our favourite local artists and challenged them to come up with a mean as playlist with only one restriction, it has to be 100% Kiwi!
Each week we're releasing a new playlist, and up next is long time legend and Radio BurgerFuel supporter, Neill Fraser, frontman of rock band Villainy.
Check out his playlist below, and you make sure you tune in to hear the full story behind the selections on-air. Happy NZ Music Month 2021 from Radio BurgerFuel.
Villainy are now three albums deep and well ingrained in the psyche of New Zealand rock fans. It's been two long years since their last LP ''Raised In The Dark' went to #2 on the NZ Top 40 Albums chart (damn you Ed Sheeran for releasing your album the same week!), and they've just finished a huge NZ summer tour with a huge set on the Rock Stage at Homegrown
Neill (infamously imitating George Michael in their Dreams video) has come up with some bangers. You might expect classics like Split Enz or Shihad, but he's managed to jam in some sly picks like Bic Runga, and possibly my all-time favourite NZ song by Chris Knox to round out the playlist.
Listen to Neill's NZ Music Month playlist below, or find it on Spotify. Happy NZ Music Month, and keep an eye out for next week's futuristic playlist too!
