BurgerFuel. Not only a great place to grab a burger for any occassion but also a place to find love. Who knew? This month, we celebrate the couples that fell in love, the mates that can’t be separated and anyone that sparked their story at BurgerFuel
Although their friendship didn't begin at BurgerFuel, working together in store only made Oscar and Lewie's bond stronger. Oscar filled us in on how Lewie and his friendship all started all the way back on their first day of primary school.
So where did it all begin?
We met on the first day of primary school, I was waiting outside of the school gate feeling apprehensive about my first day. Lewie and his mum were late to school, I saw them walk past and I decided to join them to soothe my nerves. We quickly became besties straight away, joined at the hip. We went through all of school together. We’ve been best mates for over 20 years now and wouldn’t have it any other way.
We both started at 18 and for 7 years now we have continued to move throughout the system with lots of opportunities to be at different stores and be in different roles. Our BurgerFuel journeys started at BurgerFuel Ellerslie. A couple of years go by and we’re both at BurgerFuel Henderson, working hand in hand, Lewie as Store Manager and I as 2nd In Charge. I got the opportunity to become Ponsonby Store Manager where I was for a year and have since moved into an Operations Advisor role at BurgerFuel HQ. We’ve both worked at Northern Base in the container which was a super cool experience.
It has given us the opportunity beyond anything we could have imagined at 18. I’d definitely recommend working at BurgerFuel, the people, the culture and the food is fantastic and I know we’ll both be here for many more years to come.
What's your idea of a perfect date night?
Our mate night ritual is simple really; we talk shit and play games. It’s been the same since we were in school. We lived together for a year and a half, which meant we had mate night all the time.
What's are your favourite BurgerFuel go-to?
For both of us it’s easily the Bacon Backfire with Pineapple and Plum Sauce. Sweet, tropical, and savoury, what’s not to like?!
