Welcome Store No.60: BurgerFuel Rolleston!

BurgerFuel store No. 60 is firing up its grills

BurgerFuel Rolleston is OPEN!

The crew have the grills firing and ready for the people of Selwyn to come along and enjoy a BurgerFuel burger! You can find our latest store in the new Rohutu Way development, a retail hub with ample parking and super handy for commuters.

New franchisee John, is a Rolleston local and a passionate petrol head (John rocks a 1961 Cadillac, so he fits right in to the BurgerFuel family). John and his wife Kate have lived in the area for 10 years with their three kids and comes from a varied background; from working at a tow truck company to selling shearing equipment and working in hospitality, he is now looking forward to bringing BurgerFuel to his community.

Jason Lowery, BurgerFuel Country Manager, adds:
"Rolleston is particularly important to me, but also the brand. With the past few years presenting major hurdles for opening BurgerFuel stores, it is pleasing to see we have gone on to successfully open Pt Chev, Whangarei, Cambridge and now Rolleston. We have not opened a store in the South Island since 2016, so to add a store to the Canterbury Region is pleasing and with a local at the helm, in New Zealand's fastest growing region, we are confident this store will go on to be extremely successful."

INTRODUCING JOHN

When did you acquire BurgerFuel Rolleston?

We first enquired about owning a BurgerFuel store in September 2019 and signed onto the BurgerFuel franchise soon after. We spent 3 years trying to find the perfect location whilst navigating COVID-19. It was a challenge finding the right spot and we finally found the ideal location and three years on , as of October 31st 2022, we are OPEN.

Tell us your story, what’s your background?

My wife Kate and I have 3 kids; Gemma, Lauren and Flynn and we have lived in Rolleston for the last 10 years. My work career has varied from working at a tow truck company, shearing equipment supplies to being in hospitality; working in kitchens in London, to owning a café in Christchurch and then at a catering company. I love talking to people so my jobs have all been centred around customer service.

What made you want to be a part of the BurgerFuel family?

I first tried the Ford Freakout at BurgerFuel Bush Inn and loved it! I thought the brand was so unique and I was interested to find out more. When I moved to Rolleston, I could see there was demand for a good quality burger store. I enquired with Head Office as to whether they would be keen to open a BurgerFuel in Rolleston, and they happened to be advertising for a franchisee in the area at the time.

What do you love about the Brand?

Aside from their amazing cars, I love that there is something on the menu for everyone. The brand has a bit of a cult following and draws people in with their high quality products.

What’s the best part of being a part of your local community?

Definitely the people. Local business owners all support each other.

Other than your store, what’s your favourite place to go in your community (doesn’t have to be food related)?

Weedons Golf Course

What’s your favourite BurgerFuel burger (including any modifiers)?

It's got to be Bio Fuel!

What is your best BurgerFuel hack?

Swapping our beef for chicken in the burgers.

Do you own a machine? If so, what is it?

I own a couple; a 1961 Cadillac and a 2009 VE Holden SS Ute. Currently i've borrowed the BurgerFuel Buick Riviera.

Random fact about yourself?

I love cars (classic and new). I have owned (and sold) more than 60 cars over the last 20 years.

Pop in and let the Rolleston team look after you!
