Where did your BurgerFuel story start?
It all started when I was introduced to Josef Roberts at Glenside Boxing Gym. Jo got right into his training and decided to get behind me supporting me with sponsorship through BurgerFuel and the rest is history... Glenside Boxing Gym is no more but I believe that the culture we created there lay the foundation for B.A.D
Tell us a bit about your background? How did you get into the fitness industry?
I started late to training getting into Muay Thai kickboxing in my early twenties. I had a number of fights as an amateur before switching my interest to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and competing in the Pro ranks of Mixed Martial Arts. The sport wasn't mainstream like it is now and most corporates didn't want a bar of it, but Jo could see the potential and to my knowledge BurgerFuel is the first publicly listed company in NZ to sponsor an MMA fighter.
We hear you carry around a cooler bag with you wherever you go, what would we find in there?
Ah the cooler bag... I get a bit of stick for that! It's full of food mostly... protein, lots of "good fats", B.C.A.A’s, Glutamine, Barley Grass and Coconut water of course.
What post-workout habit would you recommend we adopt?
Post workout = Stretch, Protein Shake, Rest… in that order.
What is your favourite thing about coaching the BurgerFuel crew and Friends of the Fuel?
My favourite thing about training the BF Crew is that BF Crew go hard and haters are terminated!
What’s your favourite burger?
A Bastard... like attracts like.
If you could take on anyone in an arm wrestling match, who would it be and who would win?
Mike Tyson and I would let him win so I could get in for a decent man hug at the end.
