KĀHU GILL
Kāhu Gill (Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Kahungunu) is a multidisciplinary artist from Tāmaki Makaurau. With a background that spans tattooing, painting, rāranga and music, her work is deeply rooted in themes of death, spirituality, and the unknown—an influence that stems from her past life as a natural mortician and funeral director in training.
Kāhu’s artistic practice is both introspective and expansive, drawing from mātauranga Māori and personal experience to journey through the liminal spaces between life and death, the seen and the unseen.
As a tattoo artist, she works out of Blasfemme Studio in Grey Lynn, where she blends traditional and contemporary influences. Her work is bold, unapologetic, and deeply personal, embodying both her cultural roots, passion for a just world and her fascination with the ephemeral and supernatural.'
We're excited to have Kāhu feature as our next artist for Sketchup Episode 13. You can also check out more about Kāhu on her Instagram here.
