Every month we shout burgers to the legends among us who give back to their community or help people in need.
This month, we shout out to the team at The WaterBoy for their incredible work and commitment to providing opportunities for youth to experience growth through personal development programmes.
The WaterBoy is made up of three programs to ensure they can connect with as many youths in the community as possible;
The WaterBoy with Lugtons: This focus’ on ensuring physical activities are achievable for every kiwi. This program offers over 150 kiwi kids in the Waikato region a fund that they can use to cover the costs associated with their fees, equipment, and transport for their chosen sport - needs that they would not be able to meet without outside help.
Taku Wairua Kura is a Personal Development Program taught in Waikato primary and secondary schools, with the aim of guiding them towards a future of leadership, community engagement, and personal success.
Taku Wairua Tupu is aimed at school leavers who wish to transition into the working environment. This workshop helps young people to gather qualifications like driver's licenses and first aid certificates and instils courage, patience and respect for others so they can find success in their future endeavours.
