This month, we’re showing some love to the team at KiwiHarvest for their incredible work and commitment to collecting good, nutritious food before it goes to waste and ensuring it reaches our most vulnerable.
KiwiHarvest work with food business, including growers, producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, supermarkets, caterers, and retailers, to rescue the good food that they are unable to sell. Apart from providing much needed food support to Kiwis doing it tough, KiwiHarvest prevents food from ending up in landfill, where it produces methane as it degrades.
Since launching in 2012, KiwiHarvest have been working hard to reduce waste by helping those in need. During this time, they have managed to distribute over 8 thousand tonnes of food, which equates to over 23 million meals.
KiwiHarvest have branches right across the country including North Shore, East Tamaki, Queenstown, Dunedin and Invercargill, with over 270 food donors, and over 220 recipient agencies.
