Welcome to 2017, where a few nights ago we were all ‘supposed’ to have an epic, never-ending, continuous-rave night out. When in reality we are stoked if we managed to stay up till at least midnight on New Year’s Eve while sitting on the couch watching the Top 100 countdown. 2016 was… well to be honest a pretty shit year all round. Let’s reflect…
- The U.S. Election. End. Trump vs Clinton, that wall vs her emails, political amateur vs political WAG.
- Aaron Smith and his tryst in a disabled toilet. Can anyone say "spacious"?
- You were no one if you didn’t walk 20kms a day, blindly walk into random people’s houses, swipe the skin off your index finger and “catch them all”. Pokemon returned.
- Prince passed away, Purple Rain no more.
- Steven Adams is hands down the best Moustache in New Zealand*, oh and he’s pretty good at ball in the basket too. *Apart from Tim, our Culture guy, who literally got voted the best moustache.
- Rio de Janeiro named Ryan Lochte number one on their hit list. Oh and the Olympics happened too, we <3 Eliza!
- We learnt to never cross Gilda Fitzpatrick and that the Auckland housewives will freely throw racial slurs at you left, right and centre.
- The Government gave us the worst possible options for changing our flag. So we didn’t.
- R.I.P Snape Snape Severus Snape.
- Leo taught us that the planet is f***ed if we don’t all get off our ass and do something. Promise us you will fix it Jack…
- Brexit has meant that the U.K. is more isolated than those cows on their island.
- Hunt for the Wilderpeople was the best thing since LOTR.
