Semi-Permanent
Long weekends - for Auckland folk this extra day off couldn’t come along fast enough. It’s the perfect time to take a short break and get as far out of Auckland as 3 days can take you. But not us, we couldn’t wait to head further into the city alongside thousands of other budding creative talents and attend Semi-Permanent. Semi-Permanent is a global design conference held yearly in key cities around the world – and Auckland is lucky enough to be one of them. It’s a celebration of all things design: Graphic Design, Film, Art, Illustration, Web Design, Photography, Visual Effects, Animation, Graffiti, Motion Graphics, Stop Motion, and more.
We loved Kelly Thompson’s Illustrations, Askew’s graf art (ok so we’re slightly bias - he’s a good friend of the Fuel) and March Studios innovative store installations, but it was Niklas Roy’s passion for his robotics that was most memorable. His enthusiasm reminded us of the importance in finding a career or a hobby that doesn’t just make you want to get up in the morning, but make you get up early, feel excited and full of life (kind of like the way our burgers make us feel… again slightly bias, but hey). If you haven’t been to Semi-Permanent and you’re inspired by awesome art, design or innovation, don’t miss out on next year’s conference as this collection of inspiration and talent is something not to be missed!
